The
Islamic Republic of Turkey – September 2011
Years ago
when Mr. Erdoğan, now Turkey’s Prime Minister, was Mayor of Istanbul, one could
infer from his speeches his burning desire that Islam dominate Turkish politics. At that time, Prime Minister Erdogan had a
low profile and even lower political stature.
His profile changed in 2003 when his Islamic Party gained power. Yet, his political weight was still wanting
compared to the opposition leaders and much lower than the ever powerful
Kemalist Army.
Since Mr.
Davutoğlu gained control of Turkey’s Foreign policy decisions, Turkey
explicitly states Islam will prevail not only in Turkey, but also in
Europe. As such, Turkey’s efforts in the
Islamisation of Europe are not only blatant, but dangerous. Mr. Davutoglu’s dream to establish a
Neo-Ottoman Empire places Turkey in the leadership position of the Islamic
World in the Caucasus, the greater Middle East, North Africa and Africa at
large.
Although
Mr. Davutoğlu might face insurmountable obstacles to implement his policies, he
is adhering to the plan delineated in his book “Strategic Depth,” which is very
comparable to Hitler’s “Mein Kampf”.
Turkey’s no conflict policy with its neighbors became a nightmare. Turkey is denied EU access as it occupies
nearly half of Cyprus. It is at war with
Syria and involved in a civil war with the Kurds. Due to its expansionism into Greece, by
flooding the country with illegal Turkish citizens, a war with Greece is
inevitable.
One could
ignore these developments if not for a very dangerous turn of events in
Turkey. Mr. Erdoğan consolidated his
political position. He imprisoned over
10% of the high ranking officers of the once mighty Turkish Army. Recent resignations of the Chief of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff and the Commanding Officers of the Army, the Navy and the Air
Force provided the Prime Minister a clear field. He is moving quickly and steadily to achieve
the dream of his life - The Islamic Republic of Turkey. These events in Turkey
are immensely more dangerous than the Ayatollah revolution in Iran. A wait and see attitude allows the threat to
grow more ominous.
Part of
Turkey’s grand scheme for Islamic leadership is the domination of the Eastern
Mediterranean. Turkey’s main obstacle is
not Cyprus. It is Israel. Turkey will never become a dominant force in
the area as long as the State of Israel exists.
As such, the undeclared, but firm position of the Erdoğan government, is
the elimination of Israel. Had we made
this statement three years ago, a number of Turkish sympathizers in the United
States would have smiled and dismissed our contention. However, a different response is possible
today due to Turkey’s overt hostility towards Israel.
Israel, in
cooperation with Cyprus and Greece, started drilling for oil in its economic
zone in the Eastern Mediterranean. Rogue
Turkey threatened to interfere militarily if Israel continues. Now, the threats
are real. This attitude is not new as
Turkey must continue to demonstrate to the Islamic World that it is the dominant
force from Tripoli, to Somalia, to Bosnia, to Chechnya.
We can
continue page by page following Turkey’s moves and its sinister meaning. Before, Turkey was a questionable ally of the
United States. Now, it clearly has
become a hostile force and a mortal enemy of Israel.
We wish to remind the “army” of
“revolving door” consultants on Turkey’s payroll in Washington that as lobbyists
promoting Turkey’s best interest on issues they are working AGAINST THE BEST
INTEREST OF THE UNITED STATES & ISRAEL.
We also warn the United States policy makers that its locating a major
radar installation for missile defense in Turkey would prove to be a major
blunder. Turkey would be able to
withhold its availability whenever the US might need it.
We
respectfully request the Administration and the United States Congress to put
an end to the Turkish aggression.
Failure to act will create another “monster”, more dangerous than Saddam
Hussein and the Ayatollahs in Iran.
Respectfully,
Steve
